“There is no greater disability in society, than the inability to see a person as more.”
I didn’t feel like anyone really understood, or cared. I struggled through it all on my own and it was HARD! I don’t want anyone else to have to go through it all alone anymore.
Whilst navigating the NDIS system with my own children, I found that there was a huge gap of support in the NDIS from people who really understood and had a lived experience with disability. I felt alone in the challenges of navigating a very complex system, and that there was a lack of understanding in how disabilities affected family life, accessing the community and being able to function as a typical family.
As a mother and a carer to my children, I was totally alone and overwhelmed. It didn’t feel like anyone really understood or cared, so I did the best I could and struggled through it all on my own. It was really hard!
I don’t want anyone to feel as alone as I did back then, so I decided to train as an NDIS support coordinator, starting work within a large company in Melbourne for two years and then setting up my own personalised NDIS support business 4 years ago.
What sets me apart from other NDIS support coordinators? My lived experience! I JUST GET IT. I know how hard it is and I’m available to support my clients to make the most of every day. Sky High Support Coordination offers completely customisable support for our clients and families, and I work hard to create a safe space for participants who feel that they are supported and listened too. I support clients by helping them navigate the NDIS system, access supports that will assist them to become more independent and build their capacity for an incredible life that they deserve.
